Mount Kimbie: Cold Spring Fault Less Youth (Album Stream)

mountkimbie

I wasn’t too familiar with Mount Kimbie until last week, when they released their latest single, “You Took Your Time” with King Krule.  The production on that track was enough for me to dive into the British duo’s SoundCloud , and I loved what I heard.  So much so that I questioned strangers as to why they never told me about Mount Kimbie.  Their new album, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth will be released on May 28, but you can stream it in full over at NPR now.  Judging by the 3 singles already out there, it may be right up there with Nosaj Thing and Flying Lotus’ latest.

It will be available for purchase tomorrow (May 7), but album number 5 from Talib Kweli, Prisoner of Conscious, is available to stream in full over at Billboard. “I feel like when people talk about real life emotions and real life feelings they resonate longer, longer than rappers who talk about gangsterism, sex and violence and longer than rappers who  just talk about hip-hop, how real they are how and how underground they are. I wanted to make an album that really spoke to the lives that people are living.” – Talib Kweli

UPDATED: Jai Paul Releases Debut Album (Stream)

Right now, you’re thinking, “Jai Paul…Jai Paul.  I know the name, but I can remember why”.  That’s fair.  Jai Paul’s monster single “BTSU” and its ubiquitous “Don’t fuck with me…” line were recorded almost 6 years ago, but really made impact after the official release in 2011.  I don’t think any song/line has been sampled as much as “BTSU” since James Brown.   The world has been waiting for Jai Paul’s formal LP release for years, and in a very unexpected move, he uploaded his full self-titled album himself last night.  Stream it below: UPDATE: Word is circulation that Jai Paul’s laptop was stolen and these are demos released by whoever took it.
